Heart With Wings

This is an origami Heart With Wings by Francis Ow, the artist I turn to when it comes to origami hearts. You can look up other models but this one is cute and requires just one square of standard origami paper (6x6in or 15x15cm). This one maybe difficult to put in an envelope unless you un-pleat the wings to make it sit flat. I suggest practicing on a square of computer paper with red sharpie scribbled on one side.

Origami Flapping Heart

Since Valentines Day draws dangerously near I'm attempting to get a few things posted by Monday so those of you reading have time to make it and mail it. The first is a Flapping heart by David Petty (Thanks Origamimi). I learned to make this from a friend so I had to use paint to make the instructions. If you find them difficult to read, I apologize. The best thing to do with this is give it in person so you can show them how to make it flap. You can also slip it in a card because it lays flat.

Difficulty Level: Very Easy

Origami Cat

This week I'm doing an origami cat picture frame. I used a 2.5x2.5 inch square of computer paper to see how it would look. I recommend doing your first model on a larger square as the instructions were a bit confusing. Your cat may look different depending on how you fold steps 3, 10, and 11. Don't be afraid to give it some personality, and don't get discouraged if your first one looks like frankenkitty.
The instructions are from en.origami-club.com and can be found elsewhere on the web.

After folding (and preferably decorating your cat) you can glue it to any old picture frame and stick a picture of your pet inside!
